Saw IM3 last night. Big disappointment. I guess all the hype and positive reviews built up my expectations and the movie just didn't live up to them.

So many things could have been done better. They should have stuck with Favreau. I think Iron Man 2 only suffered because they put a rush on him to put it out as soon as possible.

I give it 2 1/2 stars.

I heard there was a plot device/turn of events about 45 minutes into the movie that a lot of people said could infuriate hard-core fans. I don't want it spoiled for me, but I find it strange that Marvel Studios would do something that would (allegedly) deviate so much from the Iron Man mythos.

Oh, yeah. Big "twist" in the movie, at least, for hardcore IM fans. I'm not even an IM fan, and I was extremely disappointed.

Pepper still looked hot, so ... there's always that.

Quick check of Rotten Tomatoes shows IM 3 at 78% favorable vs 93% and 72% for 1 and 2 respectively. Avengers was 92%.

Saw it today...I thought it was pretty good, not great but pretty good, Yeah the plot twist will probably tick off the hardcore im fans...I won't say anything to ruin it for anyone...There of course is an extra scene at the end, I had heard it was a big deal...I figured more info on Thanos, but it really wasn't much and wasn't that great...

I liked IM2 better. Maybe because I'm a Black Widow junkie. :)

IM3 was alright, but in my opinion, the weakest of the bunch. I thought the after-credit clip was the best part of the whole thing. LOL.

I thought it was pretty good, Not as good as the Avengers, but at least as good as IM2, The final fight scene was pretty amazing imo(especially in 3D), and Guy Pearce was pretty awesome...Again don't want to give anything away...

The movie looks pretty..and that was about it for me. The action is done well and you get a lot of funny moments..but the plot twist and other aspects of the story felt lacking.

I agree that it was better than 2 but not better than the first. Felt the twist was kinda disappointing but LOVED the after credit scene....was so much fun and was my favorite scene of the movie...worth staying for in my opinion :)

The top ten:

Iron Man 3 $175.3M;
Pain & Gain $7.6M;
42 $6.2M
Oblivion $5.7M;
The Croods $4.2M;
Big Wedding $3.8M;
Mud $2.1M;
Oz the Great and Powerful $1.8M;
Scary Movie $1.4M;
Place Beyond the Pines $1.2M

Looks like the critics are right, everyone is burned out on superhero films. No complaints here, good for biz -

I thought it was pretty good. definitely not as good as The Avengers, but still pretty good.
Not too upset about the whole "twist" thing. That can easily be corrected, after all it is the movies.
The after credit scene, although not really necessary it was kinda funny and I think it does help tie things together a little bit.
It felt like a complete different type of movie than the first two. You caould really tell it lacked Favarau's direction.
I think the average moviegoer could enjoy this movie without having to watch the first two (having watched Avengers however might help).
Overall if this makes any sense I think this movie was a better "Movie" than it was a "comic book movie".

I liked it, and didn't mind the twist. There's tons of things that happened in comic book movies that are more infuriating to me than what took place in IM3.

Yea, I LOVED the after credits..
"Tony is THAT guy" I thought.

Good movie, but I'm SEVERLY disappointed with The Mandarin. One of the coolest villains in the Marvel Universe, IMO, and Iron Man's arch nemesis, and they completely screw it up. As bad as Dr. Doom in the Fantastic Four movie, as far as I'm concerned.

They better do Thanos right in Avengers 2.

I felt the same way. As a comic fan I was disappointed in a few things in the movie but as a movie fan I thought the movie was pretty good. Also agree that IM3 was better then IM2.
As a movie fan, Mandarin was just plain hilarious. Had me laughing for awhile.

I liked it way better than Iron Man 2. I wasn't dissapointed with the direction they took The Mandarin in, cause he's sucha lame villain in the comics and IMO a direct translation of that on-screen wouldn't have made sense in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a whole. When you have Thanos, Loki, the Chitari, the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim, The cosmic Cube.. Mandarin would have seemed excessive, especially when we're talking about a threat that Iron Man faces by himself.

A fully powered Mandarin with his Alien Ten Rings is something that would have gotten more than just Tony Stark's attention.

It needed to be scaled down for it to make sense in an Iron Man solo flick. IMO.

I don't think that they needed to have Mandarin using the rings, but they could have used him as a terrorist cell leader.

After the disappointment of IM2, I'm not sure about seeing that one on the big screen.

Perhaps for the sake of 3D...

The 3D really isn't worth the extra coin. The effect is so subtle & subdued that you'll forget you're actually watching the 3D version.
