Well, I suppose it couldn't be worse than Gremlins 2, but I'd still prefer they left this franchise alone. The original had a lot of charm, whimsy and dark humor which I think was what led to the success of the first movie, not the concept of gremlins itself or the special effects.

If they want to recreate that, they should consult Joe Dante or someone who can emulate his direction.

Who thought that this needed to be remade?

I mean, it's a fun little movie. But that's all it is. There's nothing particularly great about it.

I grew up in the 80s, too. There are much better films, ESPECIALLY from the 80s. That's like the best era for horror, fantasy (excluding LOTR, of course), and sci-fi films.
