Saw it last night and I loved it! Even better than the last one. Great dialogue, great action, stellar special effects.

Has a few nice surprises too! I give it 4 stars.

Haven't seen it yet but just watched the first one to refresh my memory. Can someone clarify something for me? I guess I missed it at first but did they make it clear that these characters are totally separate from the original TV shows and early movies? Meaning that they won't "grow up" to be the same Kirk, Spock, etc but are in fact in a divergent timeline?

Maybe I was so upset that they destroyed Vulcan that I blanked that part out of my mind.

Yes, this is now a divergent timeline. I don't think they're "separate" characters, just the same people on different paths now.

Just got back from Star Trek: Into Darkness. AWESOME! I loved it! Much better than the first one. More emotion and meaning behind all that fabulous action, which made it all mean so much more than it did in the first film, IMO. If you've been questioning whether to go see it or not, definetly go see it!

I agree, great movie. Lived up to all my expectations. Just one thing to all those who haven't seen it yet, do not read or talk to anyone about it. Unless you want the experience to be spoiled.

Geez, there's no details in what Xylob said. I hardly call that a spoiler.

But now they are expecting role reversals. Big Grin I know, it may have been harsh. I apologize.

It's not like I posted all the details about that guy with the face on the front of his his head who's always wearing pants and does that thing that sets up all that other stuff that the whole story revolves around and then indicated that about 7/8 of the way through the movie there is a climactic instance shortly followed by a resolution and then credits...

OH CRAP I DID IT AGAIN - movie spoiled!!!
Tongue

BTW, DON'T waste your time sitting through the credits.

I ALWAYS sit through the credits, whether I think/know there's going to be an after-credits scene or not. For the amount of money I spend for a movie ticket, I aim to sit in that theater for as long as possible.

If they're trying to avoid spoilers, I doubt they'd be reading this thread anyways.

Then why do you always get p!ssed at me for predicting what will happen in discussions on Green Lantern threads? Your point here is quite valid though...

I hardly ever go out to see movies first-run, but I like to peruse movie threads just to see what other people thought of it, generally. I prefer having spoiler threads and non-spoiler threads. Shouldn't be a problem around here, though, because people don't seem to like to get too in-depth about their movie discussions on these boards.

Oh, that's just great! Thanks for saving me the $8.50 and 3 hours of my life. Guess I don't have to see this one now that you spoiled it...Phbbbbt

Sorry dude... If it's any consolation, I saved you way more than $8.50 and 3 hours - I just ruined almost every movie ever.

If it's a thread specifically about a storyline or issue, then yeah, it's my fault. But I usually get annoyed when I read what should be a spoiler-free thread, and get a spoiler without even a warning first.

I generally try to use spoiler tags in such cases, but most discussions are specific so unless the OP clearly states 'no spoilers' all readers should be prepared.
No?

I just think it's proper netiquette to give a spoiler warning first, unless it says spoilers in the title of the thread. I do it for everyone else.
