My instant reaction was that he would be better cast as Hank Pym. After all he does have a history of playing flawed character roles. But, of course there's to be no Pym in the next Avengers movie, is there?

Does it matter who plays him? Ultron is a robot, so it's going to be all CGI and robot suit effects. Unless they do a spin on the character where he has flesh covering his body. In which case it'll be something we've never seen before, so any qualified actor would work.

So he'll be voice-acting, then? Because Ultron is an adamantium robot.

Therein lies the problem. Spader is known for playing understated characters. He'll have to project a lot more personality to pull it off. From what I've seen in the past, I don't think this will be possible.

I'm thinking it's got to be a "motion capture" type thing. Like Andy Serkis as Gollum, perhaps?

I certainly hope they don't ruin Ultron like they did with the Cylons and make him human - or human-like...

Who cares who plays him as long as they get the robot right. It's the same as Hulk, Spidey, or The Thing, etc. as long as they get the in-costume-character right, I don't care who the actor is that plays them for the most part.

Well the rumor is that Jarvis will turn into Ultron...since Hank Pym isn't really there to create him in the movie universe. I don't think it is going to be like the Ultron we are used to...

In other casting news, I can't wait for this...

I'm just estactic. I really like Spader and it puts another element of humor to the questionnaire Cordelia gave to Buffy in the first BTVS ep. I'm sure after being in Avengers Spader WILL call SMG XD

Cordelia: "Vamp nail polish?"
Buffy: "Um, over?"
Cordelia: "So over. James Spader?"
Buffy: "He needs to call me!"
