I recently had to file a PayPal claim on a CCL seller, first time. After I make my claim, it tells me they sit on the claim for a month before doing anything...that's crazy! I've already waited a month before questioning the seller, as that's what I've always perceived to be proper netiquette. And then a week more for some sort of update or plan of action that I never got. So now I have to wait a full 2 months (plus that week), before anything is done? And how long will it take once they do it after that month?

At Wits' End

Frustrating, to say the least.

Damn. Luckily I haven't experienced a transaction here that led to a paypal claim. What was the dispute over?

Never heard of it taking that long, was the package sent media mail? Might be a new policy as those medias sometimes show up after random delays.

If you don't mind my asking, why did you have to file the claim? Was the Seller uncooperative? or uncommunicative?

In the original post, BD said he waited a week for some sort of update or plan of action he never got. So no--no communication.

Is it me or does it seem like we are seeing alot more issues buying books here. My last 3 orders have had either missing books or had to file a claim

I can't speak for other Sellers but I never ship an order that is short books and you will never have to worry about filing any claim.

The (very few) problems that I have had were resolved through communication.

I wish you luck in your future purchases!

Yeah but those were from Don "Crook of the Century" Flores, weren't they? I do not think this is an epidemic.

The only problem I ever seem to have is with the Postal Service. Sometimes their incompetence just makes my brain hurt.

The paypal arbitration process can take a little while, but it depends on the circumstance. They generally give the other party 14 days to respond, then they give you 14 days to respond, etc, so depending on how quickly everyone reponds, a claim can be processed much faster.

Also, it can take them some time if they need to look into credit card accounts, and other issues.

I have had situations where it took the full amount of time because the seller did not respond, and closed his bank account, but eventually I did get re-imbursed for the full amount. AND, have also had a situation where I got refunded the same day, because the other party had a history of credit card fraud, so paypal filed in my favor immediately.

Hang in there, I know it sucks, but at least you got the claim filed soon enough.

So in case anyone was curious, I got my refund after the PayPal claim went through. Comics still never arrived.

And the store involved has now closed shop, obviously something weird going on there; so I guess it doesn't hurt mentioning the name: CheapComics.

I personally think this is going to start happening more and more here on CCL. More stores are closing here then opening. While some stores arent hurt by the lack of traffic, due to them being favorites of buyers. New stores though dont get the benefit of having regulars so they lose money and eventually it just becomes a hassle to sell here.

Sadly I dont see it getting better either with the "Update". One of the things that has been proven time and time again is if you wait too long to update its a lost cause. To operate a successful website you must always need be above the curve, IE facebook or you can wait 10 years to finally change and its too late, IE myspace.

To some extent I agree, however the resellers will keep things afloat, lots of stuff you can buy for a fraction of retail here. You also have seller-customer relationships that have built up over the years. IMO the main danger is sellers taking their wares elsewhere for better $.
