So who doesn't like a good old fashioned stone club and spear versus dinosaur and sabretooth tiger slash sword and sorcery tale? I know I do!

So, in the genre of Prehistoric Personage - who do you like...and why?

Anthro the First Boy - early DC, has reappeared in modern times.

Cavewoman - OK, not really Stone Age but I couldn't resist.

Conan the Barbarian - classic Howard creation and overwhelming favorite

Dagar the Invincible - has never heard of Conan the Barbarian

Kull the Conqueror - Robert E. Howard's first, lesser known creation

Tor - Joe Kubert, what else needs to be said

Turok Son of Stone/Dinosaur Hunter - honkers and monsters and bionisaurs, oh my!

Fantastic News! Hall of Heroes has now surpassed 600 Hero Ratings! I couldn't have done it without all of you and I will strive to maintain and improve my high standards. Which brings me to my next announcement - starting now, all shipments will come with tracking at no extra charge to you! I'm a little late to the party but as they say - better late than never. You spoke and I heard you loud and clear. Excelsior!

I never thought of Conan as a stone-age character.

Didn't DC have a few other prehistoric characters besides Anthro? I think so. Gnark, Kong . . .?

Maybe not notable and mostly forgotten, but in the '40s there was Prehistoric Pete and Plitdown Pete--you can get the 411 on them on my blog page--The Yot Time F'got!

I wouldn't consider Conan or Kull (or Sonja) to be "stone age" characters. Anthro, yes. And he would get my vote.

Stone age characters wouldn't have cities, or ships, and they wouldn't have the treasures, or the knowledge to make steel weapons and/or armour. They'd be using stone-tipped spears and living in tribes in caves. Things like that.

Then we need to remove Turok, Cavewoman, and Dagar from the list as well and technically Captain Caveman since his adventures took place in the Modern Age - but could we include the new Battlestar Galactica since it was shown in the last episode that we are all descendants from those who landed her on Earth? Confused

Captain Caveman was on the Flintstones. He's stone-age.

Gazoo had space ships, lasers, and other technological advances on the Flintstones so does that exclude the occupants of bedrock if the knowledge to make steel weapons and/or armour disqualifies others? Tongue

Actually Turok would qualify. Not the imposter from Valiant, but the original Turok Son of Stone. The lost valley was all cavemen and dinosaurs, but even Turok's native home was still just advanced stone age. They lived in teepees and used stone tools and weapons. Their arrows were stone tipped, as were their knives and hatchets. They might have been more advanced than the cavemen but only in that they knew how to make fire, use a bow and use poison.
