Ok about a week ago I had pop up hit me, this one was different then usual ones. Now I was browsing CCl when it hit but I had tabs open for other sites so wasnt 100% sure was from here.

Well was just now checking out some CCL stores and BAM hit again and only have CCL open.

http://getsoftfree.com/soft/c1/5hmq86bz/?uid=nym1CNrimaSOktDLJhACGNSy-e25ksTcYiIOMTYyLjE5Mi45MC4xODcoATCz-PSWBQ..&sid=237896&filename=Secure_File

Now normally I would just complain about popup like I have in "ALL" the other threads that have been ignored by the owners because they fear by removing any banner ad they may lose the $40-50 they make a month off them. This however is different, now the popups are "KNOWN PHISHING" websites.

Oh and I will NOT change my browser

So fix the issue or lose a customer.

Send a PM to Steve (The_Valiant_One) and let him know about this. If you wait for him to stumble on this thread and read it on his own you'll be waiting a long time. You can also message the Help Desk. Supposedly they are monitoring that also.

I didnt know we were in a contest nor do I ever remember saying I wouldnt make "negative" posts about CCL. However I love how you troll the boards to make snide remarks about my posts.

Xylob wrote:

Its a fact, I dont need CCL! They have far too many websites with the exact same comics at the exact same price. I choose this site because I have some favorite sellers and prefer spending my monies with them, but I am not going to risk having my computer infected with a virus or phishing attacks when I can go elsewhere. Which is exactly what I will do if they prefer rotten popups on this site over customers.

I guess every time someone has a problem instead of posting here they should hunt down your signature? Thats a great way to run a business....
"Hunt down some AHOLE approver and read his signature if you need help"! maybe that should be CCLs motto?

Hey now Atilla, take it easy on poor little Dylan.
His righteous indignation is EARNED, whereas the rest of us stupid monkeys only waste time around here.
Check out the facts - dude's been here since freakin' 2012! That means he's plunked down at least $30, maybe even $60. $60 earns you a lot of respect around this place. Combine that with a handful of half-assed CRs and you get the king of the site.
Not to mention how pathetic everybody else is around here - did you all know the Magical Mister Miller has spent well over $4,000,000.00 on comics here at CCL?
Frankly, CCL wouldn't still exist if Dylan wasn't a member.

Though I don't really believe anybody should have to "post here" or hunt down an AHOLE approver's sig to get help - It's much easier to just pull their head out and go the bottom of ANY CCL PAGE and click "Contact Us" OR "Support" to get the exact same info. But only if they aren't lazy cry-babies with magnificently over-inflated senses of importance and if they have half a wit in 'em. That's pretty big "if"s though.

It's almost like this entire thread was started only to... oh wait, who's the troll again?

Honestly, I've read and reread Dylan's original post, and I can't find anything that'd be considered negative or a bash against CCL in general. And yes, he has a right to be frustrated because he HAS mentioned this problem before, with obviously no resolution to it.

Recently I got a new mobile phone, and I get notifications of a virus when I go to certain CCL pages, and it appears to be stemming from some of the ads. It needs to be fixed, and dog-piling on Dylan doesn't solve anything.

Oh, and Dylan is one of the biggest spenders on CCL. And, as a seller here, that matters big time. Money talks. Large sellers here can come and go--other stores will take their place. Not the same with the customers with deep pockets. There's not enough of them around here, so I don't really care to lose one. And I don't care to see one of my customers get berated for simply pointing out a major problem with the website. A problem that certainly is causing others to avoid this website, too.

This thread has quickly spun out of control. I'll ask both Xylob and Dylan to both please refrain from egging each other on. Xylob, I'll specifically ask you to stop going out of your way to get around the language filter. You've been around long enough to know that the site's creators want language to be appropriate for all ages. Dylan, as Atilla pointed out, name-calling is not permitted.

The assumption(s) here seems to be that CCL is actively doing something malicious.
These issues are caused by pop-up banners, which are on every site on the web.
CCL has ZERO control over what their advertisers do, and when such ads are found they do get rid of them. It is not reasonable to believe that they can/should have the ability to rule every single site on the web... banner ads are not CCL, they're basically holes in the site that show OTHER sites.
Having used the internet for more than a year myself, it is reasonable to expect other people who use it to take the means necessary to protect themselves and their computers.
I have never experienced the pop-ups, redirects, or other such "malware" that others have complained about here. The internet is a dirty dirty place folks... Take a couple seconds to turn on or adjust the built-in security settings in your browser, get some antivirus (some of the best are FREE).

When these issues are identified, CCL does take the offending ad down (am I repeating myself?).
Do you expect (DEMAND!!!!!) immediate satisfaction? Get real, this is a "mom & pop" company. You can't even get a real person for the website of most multi-million dollar corporations on the weekends - these guys don't deserve the weekend off too?
That's why you're going to storm off in a snit and "take your money elsewhere!"? That's like never going to an LCS again because you took the time out of your busy schedule to drive across town to their store only to see that they're closed on Monday. I bet local shop owners in your area love ya...

Cater to ALL your customers, not just the "big spenders", or you'll lose ALL your customers. When us "worthless" nickel and dime customers (go ahead Thundercon, look me up, I know you can see my spending) see that we "don't matter", you'll lose us ALL. Is one big spender going to keep you alive forever?

First let me start this reply with this wonderful quote from the very pages of CCL itself:

Quote:
Discussion, Bug Reports, Feature Requests and Suggestions

That is the description of this subforum, so it is exactly what I did, report a bug.

Now of course I couldn't make a bug report with out one of my nasty little followers reply with something snooty or asinine.

now for the fun follow ups :)

Atilla2k wrote:

Actually I was A-YLOB bashing or is he now only defined as a Approver? No where in my reply did I say anything about approvers! In fact after comiccastle last explained to me about how not all are bad I made sure not to lump them all together, but if I had you would definitely have been added since like A-YLOB you didnt contribute to the post other then to say something nasty about me.

So nice to se you leave your bridge to make yet another worthless post. Now I never asked for or wanted your respect! You are nothing to me so not sure why I would want your respect.

This thread was started as per CCL description, so read above.

Thanks "Thunder" :)

In fact when the last popup was hitting I went out of my way to track down the offending URL and sent to "The Valiant One" his reply was they couldnt really do anything about it, which is wrong, they just chose not to do anything about it. They instead chose to wait out that rotation of banners until its campaign had ended.

Xylob wrote:

They are, they host the banners with popups, which by the way they "CHOOSE" to do.

Xylob wrote:

Really, well then you need to stop visiting so many porn sites, because the "ONLY site I have visited in the last 6 months with a pop up is this one, but then again I dont visit "Trolls in Lust" as often as you do.

Xylob wrote:

For someone who has used the internet for more then a year, your stupidity is showing. Banners do not just magically appear on a website. The owners of CCL contacts an "ad" company and agree to place a banner rotation on a website for X amount of money per click or per impression. They then place the companies code in the website. now if the company places banners with popups, phishing, malware or any other nasty non friendly thing the owner can simply remove the banner code and find a new company.

CCL has chosen not to do that. Instead they have continued to display banners with popups in an attempt to monotize the forum. They have chosen not to switch to a different company like say "google Ads" that doesnt allow popups because it might pay a penny less. CCL has chosen to run off customers thinking that a penny is worth it. Yet it has been proven over and over sites that have popups have less visitors, or repeat visitors then sites with no popups.

Xylob wrote:

Actually they dont! The last banner that was causing the pop up wasnt removed, they simply waited for it to expire! They did nothing so wrong again.

Xylob wrote:

So I am not a customer? Oh wait I am, and how much I spend has no bearing on this post. In fact I could care less if I only spent $10 a month I still wouldnt want phishing popups.

Dylan, I have already asked you to refrain for name calling. Your multiple uses of "A-YLOB," which I can only assume to be a contraction of Xylob with a curse word, still constitute name calling. Further, your comments regarding another user's "stupidity" and unwarranted character attacks regarding supposed/unfounded pornographic predilections on another user violate the "abuse/harassment" clause of CCL's terms of service. This is your second and final warning in this thread. Another personal attack attack in this thread will result in a suspension and this thread being locked.

Xylob. Please stop poking the bear.

Xylob, I appreciate your business, but you're really putting words in my mouth and twisting things around.

Firstly, I do cater to all my customers, on every spending level. You can see that by my price spread on the inventory. I also treat all customers the same in trying to get orders out as quickly as possible. And actually, I guess the bigger spenders are getting the short end of the stick in some respects, just because it takes longer to pull a larger order (ie, higher-dollar) than a smaller one. But again--exactly how am I "catering to the big spenders"?

And when did I call the lower end spenders "worthless", and say they "don't matter"?

My point was that I don't care to lose a customer (any customer), but especially one that tends to spend more heavily than others. That's not me "catering" to "big spenders"--that's just common business sense. Take any business owner, put two customers in front of him. One spends a lot of money at his store, the other not very much (maybe he's even only shopped there once). If the business owner was told that he was going to lose one of the customers--which one do you think he'd feel a little bit more bummed out about leaving?

You forgot to mention that one is a "Bear" and one is a "Troll". lol

So it would also depend on if you want to be "Eaten" or "Bashed". Big Grin

On a side not TheValiantOne replied to my PM that they would look into. Actually he said

Quote:
I'll have Joe look into it and see if its one of the current banners in rotation that's causing that.

Which slightly baffled me since after posting my last post I closed my browser and reopened CCL 100+ times until the offending popup reared its ugly head and found the EXACT banner that was causing the popup. So not sure how it could not in rotation when I saw it with my own 2 peepers.

Just so anyone might want to know it is the "IQ Quiz" yellow banner with some stupid question about Texas. So dont click that banner, even if you know the answer.

Just to put my two cents in, I get where Freaky is coming from. It does get frustrating knowing that the site has all these problems, we lobby complaints, and best we get is "it's coming" or "we're working on it" with nothing actually getting fixed for long periods of time. Especially when you see numerous other sites getting upgrades or reboots, often more than once before we see any changes here.

However, that said, Freaky, you came right out of the gate confrontational. You didn't even give anyone a chance to reply to you or fix your problem before you got rude and confrontational. Do you think people are really going to want to go out of their way to help you if you come out right off the bat, rude? If they ignored you for weeks or basically said "Deal with it", then you got rude, that might be a little more understandable.

That said, what is CCL going to do to fix it? I'm pretty sure NO ONE wants to have phishing sites involved in their software, software they're paying money for at that.

Hey doom, they have ignored me and all customers about this. This isn't the first pop up nor will it be the last. The last one was ignored until it went away. Last month they had another one that was some Firefox update fake page pop up. So this isn't some new bug just popping up it is clear choice by the owners to continue to use adchoice to host banners even though it is obvious it's causing popups. So they have ignored the complaints to make another penny on my thousandth visit.

I just got this same pop up about an hour ago. The Firefox fake update page. I don't think I've ever had a pop up from any other sites I frequent so I didn't know what it was till I read your post.
