Same here. I have roughly about 512 DVD/Blu-rays. I have a cabinet with sliding wood/glass doors that overflowed onto the floor a while ago. I'm actually picking up the materials I need to build the same type cabinet but twice as big.

The funny thing is that I have very few DVD's. Back in the day. I had tons of VHS tapes and that was a nightmare. Since then, I have found a solution. It is completely unorthodox but here it is. I buy all the DVD's I want for my dad. I give them to my dad as presents. Bdays, Xmas, Father's Day; you name it. He gets a DVD. Then I borrow it. Watch it and then give it back to him. It works great. My mom hates it. She tells me not to buy him anymore but my dad loves it. I got him Man Of Steel recently. Next is The Wolverine.

Sir,
Although not politically correct, and possibly not even spelled
correctly, your life is now over as you know it. Deal with it.
The trade off and being OCD about anything, up to and including
YOUR comic book collection is moot. You are no longer in charge.
Any and all decisions must now be run by the committee for approval.
In triplicate, with a followup email, text, and twit.

You forgot to tell him that he isn't actually on that committee...
Committee membership includes:
-her mom
-her lonely, bitter, single co-workers that will do whatever tiny things they can to undermine her relationship while pretending to be her friends (acting in "her best interests of" course)
-her lonely, bitter, single friends that will do whatever tiny things they can to undermine her relationship while pretending to be her friends (acting in "her best interests" of course)
-her siblings
-Dr. (banned)ing Phil
-Oprah

Congrats by the way!

It doesn't matter if it's 50 Cents or 50 Dollars - if you list it as NM it better be NM.

We're currently around 550 and it's going to be time for new storage soon. I have just been informed by the two gentlemen above that I will have no say whatsoever in what form that storage will take.

One of the primary directives of the committee is to create the illusion that you are involved with the decision making process.

One of the most dreaded phrases any man can hear is his wife/girlfriend/significant other saying, "Honey what do think about..."

You know she already has the response she wants to hear in mind and anything else is just not going to work! Laughing

I have found that it is best to capitulate to most things and use the pity card to get my way on occasion. We both seem to be happy. Pray

I am proud to Announce that I now have 500+ Hero Ratings!!! Thanks to all of my Amazing Customers! Big things are in store for Hall of Heroes this year. It is my personal goal to add a long box a week to my Inventory starting in April, 2014.

Mine are organized by genre. Horror, comedy, sci-fi, etc. Animated movies and tv shows are all together and live action shows like Smallville, Flash, Law & Order: SVU are sitting on a shelf together. I put all my regular dvds together and separated from my blurays. I really need to get bookcase with doors to keep everything in rather than the open one I have.

It is a real pain finding places for my collection of 1977 DVDs/Blurays...

My DVDs/Blurays are currently separated over 3 bookshelves.

Movies are in 2, mostly alphabetically but with things like Disney, Bond, Blurays and a couple others grouped at the top.

TV has a bookshelf to itself in a weird order
- Top shelf DC, Marvel, Anime & South Park
- Next shelf Star Trek & Bluray shows
- Then 4 shelfs in no real order (except preferred ones at the front)

I then have some odd things scattered elsewhere, like Doctor Whos together and WWE hidden away.

I don't have that many DVDs, but I use 2 cd binders for my DVDs. One is for family and the other more violent (horror and action).

I suppose if I wasn't single, I might consider this. Currently my movies take up 3 large bookshelves.

I have two separate DVD/Blu-Ray collections. The one in the living room is all the "us" movies. Meaning the ones that my wife and I watch together. There's probably a couple hundred in that collection. Single movies are in a box with little sleeves that holds 150 discs. TV series and other sets are in some sort of order on shelves in the electric fireplace cabinet.

The second collection are movies and TV sets that I watch on my own because my wife could care less to ever see them. These are in the same type of boxes as the one in the living room. Just a BUNCH more than the "us" collection. I have them separated into Horror/Sci-Fi 1920s-1960s. Then Everything Else. They're not alphabetical but I know where to find everything. It works for me but would give anyone else a brain hemorrhage. TV sets and superhero movies have their own shelf for now. Soon they'll need their own boxes as well.
