Directions in general to save a few phone calls whether you're coming today or any day.
If you draw a flattened X through the state of Virginia it could be called highways 360 and 460.
360 runs in the direction from Richmond to South Boston/Danville area.
460 runs from the Petersburg to Roanoke areas.
They crisscross at Burkeville which is about 4 miles from here.
460 comes directly through Crewe. 360 passes by about a mile or so above Crewe.
If you can find 460 and Crewe there's 3 stop lights in Crewe on 460. One's for the fire department which you'll drive right through most days. The one on the other end gives you the option to turn and head towards Victoria on highway 49. The stoplight in the middle gives you the choice to turn onto Carter street or keep going on 460. Turn onto Carter street. Come in one block and there's another stop light or technically 4 facing all directions since we got fancy and did away with the one hanging in the middle the fire trucks used to run into during the Christmas parade. Turn right and we'll be on the left between the tanning salon and hardware store.
Interstate 85 and 95 pass by a little to the east. You can get off 85 close to Petersburg and come directly down 460 which is a 60 mph zone once you get a bit away from the airport area with no stop lights most of the way. Basically it's about a 45 minute drive depending on your foot pressure on the peddle.
95 ties in easily on 360 at the Richmond area/Hull Street. Again it's about 45 minutes or so driving from there depending on traffic and foot pressure but they're adding more stop lights every time you blink so I frequently bypass Hull Street by taking 460 to 85 which connects to 95 and 288 bypass to get to the east side of Richmond with less stops.
Roanoke is about 2 hours down 460. Lynchburg's about an hour. Farmville/Longwood College/Hampton Sydney College is about 20 minutes. Blackstone/Fort Pickett is maybe 10 minutes. Once again all times depend on your preference for foot pressure on the peddle.
South Hill, Lunenburg, Lawrenceville and a variety of other locations can be accessed in 30 minutes or so by the back roads 49, 46 and other back roads loaded with deer and squirrels to dodge.
This week's helpful tip.

Dwolla payments. If you don't have an account set up with them yet like you do PayPal give them a try.
No fee for transactions under $10.
PayPal charges a base transaction fee plus a percentage. By using Dwolla for orders under $10 we don't get charged a fee and in cases where you want to add a book to an existing order or forgot to add in something like sales tax or a shipping fee, you can pay just the actual amount and not have to worry about extra tag along fee's.
For order's over $10 the fee is only a quarter to transfer the funding.
That means savings which we hope to pass back to you in a flat 3% discount or refund.
