I had not opened the software for about 10 days.

From launch to finish took 2:15 using your stopwatch site.

Comics:
1632 titles
6918 Issues (Also a guess. The reports are freaking confusing because I also don't know what Items Inserted means vs. Item Folders)

GN/Trades:
9 Titles
11 Issues

HC's
1 Titles
1 Issue

Magazines:
6 Titles
6 Issues

Action Figures:
9 Titles
32 Issues

I then closed it out and went back a couple of hours later and it opened in 1:03. Less updating.

System:

AMD FX 6100 Six-Core Processor
3.30 GHz
8.00 GB RAM
64 bit operating system

Since the desktop app does everything synchronously, meaning a single core is doing all of the work which is causing threads to be blocked which in turn causes context switching. The only way to get around it (or hide it) at the moment is to beef everything up; RAM, Processor and HD. In my case the HD was the bottleneck. The app still only uses a single core and context switches but since the SSD is so fast it minimizes the need for a lot of context switching giving the appearance of improved app performance.

If the app were fixed to run asynchronously and used multiple cores and share threads instead of blocking them. Slower multi-core systems would experience much better performance as a result...
