Wow, never thought I would be asking this question but here goes. How do you take care of long hair?

I have always had short hair. Not military short, with the exception of the 4 years I served, but still fairly short. I worked in the restaurant business for 20 years and it was always practical to keep the length down. Not only would my head stay cooler in the hot kitchen but also to prevent a stray follicle landing in someone's fettuccine. People tend to frown on that.

Now, however, I no longer work in the food service industry so I tend to let it grow a little longer than usual. In addition, as some of you know, I worked as a background artist on Turn. In the case it gets renewed Pray the casting director advised us to let our hair grow as long as possible and that it would help with being selected.

So now it's pushing my shoulders and falling into my face and I'm not sure how exactly to groom it. Obviously wash, shampoo and brush, I don't want dreadlocks, but how often? All I needed before was to just run my fingers through and that was it. Should I trim occasionally?

I want to hear from someone with a flowing mane!

Thank you! Kiss

So I have short hair...but I have two daughters with long hair and a wife with long hair as well...here is what my wife yells at me to do for the girls.

Shampoo and condition every other day, to much washing ruins it.
- She recommends Biolage. It's not cheap, but it works great. You can get it at JC Penny for a decent price. If you can afford it, go with Ovation cell therapy.
Brush it every day.
Get a trim at least once a month, helps keep it healthy and grow better.
Do not put it in a pony tail a lot, this causing it to break and frizz.

And most importantly, always put cute bows and hair pins in, it makes the outfit.

Great advice. I'm on my way to the dollar store right now! Straight Face

I don't like the ponytail because it feels like it's pulling at my scalp. They put me in one for the show and I wasn't fond of it.

Depends on what kind of hair you have. Is it oily or dry? Thick or thin? Smooth or coarse? Do you use hair products or a blow dryer? All these are important as to how to take care of your hair.

Dry. Thick but fine and wispy. I do not blow dry, just been using regular shampoo, no conditioner.

It doesn't really grow long very fast. More outwards like a bush. I kind of look like a mop.

Colleen says I look like a lion. Especially now that I have shaved my hockey playoff beard. Broken Heart
