Could someone suggest a starting point thats simple and easily picked up in time for issue 700? Would 698 be okay?

ooo... tough one... in the current story you may get lost... one more day and brand new day would be ideal... even 600 would be ok. But if you just want to see what happens i would go with 698.

Yeah, #698 should be fine. I don't think One More Day and Brand New Day are really needed, as this story doesn't really touch on the changes made in OMD & BND.

true, but he didn't specify where he wanted to jump on. if hes wanting to know what happened since civil war then yeah. but he may also just want to know whats with doc ock and why hes all f!@ked up then i would pick up #600.

So you're saying someone would have to track down over 100 back issues in time to be brought up to speed before #700 comes out in a few weeks? Really?

Well i pre ordered 700 there so i think i shall just keep it and when i get a great selection under my belt i shall read it

 sweet jesus man, cool your jets. i was giving him points to jump on. if he wants to read since the reboot then yeah. but someone with brains would just get the trades on ebay for like 5 bucks. if wolf wants to get caught up with whats been going on with doc ock i would pick up 600. not read 600 through 700 in a week. but yeah thanks your attitude dude. classy

Today was a very bad day for many family's as I hugged my 5 year old daughter for a very long time when I got home from work...

I woud read 600, and then ends of the earth, then 698 on. That should give a good recap of what is going on and what will happen.

Agreed, this would be the easiest if you are just looking to catch up on how Spider-Man and Doc Ock got to this point - #600 and #682-687. However, I would suggest all of Slott's run which started with #648, for the most part it has been terrific.
