How about this as a possible development for the current CR capabilities: When adding characters to a CR, for instance a team book, is it possible to have a sub-menu or "paint pallet"? Like, if I type "Fantastic Four", then a sub-set of search results pop up with all the names of members. Even with typing abbreviations for names like "terfa" (Mister Fantastic), "invis" (Invisible Girl/Woman), "rstorm" (Jonathan "Johnny" Lowell Spencer Storm) or estorm (Susan "Sue" Storm / Susan "Sue" Richards) it still takes a bit of time to search each individually each time. I found this to be a bit of a pain when entering CR's on a long run of FF issues a while back. And with the website moving slower than usual in CR function, this can be a little frazzling on the nerves. With the paint pallet option, all the characters (both super-name and civilian ID) are returned in one search, and you could just cherry pick the required character names for that individual issue. Obviously, with teams like X-Men and Avengers this would be un-feasible to add everyone to the sub-menu, as they both have about 200 members each. I'm asking just the core members; like the first 5 X-Men and the core of the next team, Storm, Nightcrawler, Wolverine, Colossus. As they would be the likely cast for most X-Men appearances. One other thing, what about adding hyperlinks in the bio field? Like they have on comicbookdb.com. Say, for instance if we currently add a note to reference a story is continued in, or from another issue, the hyperlink could point to that specific issue. Sort of like we have "Related Titles" in Title view now.

I'd kinda like it if it was possible to tie civilian identities to super-hero personas, and visa versa. If you type in certain names, like Storm or Thing, you've gotta flip through multiple pages before you get to "Thing."
If we're able to do something like what Icarus mentioned, could we also tie names? Type in Superman, and you're linked to Clark Kent and Kal-El.

I like the idea in general, but I'd argue that adding just "core" members for these teams wouldn't help you find the most likely candidates. Just in the example you mentioned, several of those characters are currently deceased and it doesn't account for some of the most currently used X-Men (Emma Frost, Rogue, and Magneto for example). And how would you do that with the Avengers? Only add the current roster to the sub-menu? icarus201 wrote:One other thing, what about adding hyperlinks in the bio field? The big 3 obviously; Cap, Thor and Iron Man. As well as the next few recruits, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, Vision. They are the core of the team, and still make most regular appearances rather than, say 80's/90's cyphers like Dr Druid, Rage, Silverclaw, Firestar, Justice et. al.
