Man I hope something is wrong with a server or something just as benign because I just launched the update process and its trying to update 146,000 plus entries. In case you think I put to many zeros I said one hundred and forty-six THOUSAND!!!. Its updating about 2 every 1 second so that's over 20 hours assuming it wont crash first...btw - it has in the past.

Admittedly I haven't used the update feature in a few months and I have about 5,000 items on my wish list but come on this process usually takes me maybe 5 minutes. There has to be away around this nightmare.

Anyone have some ideas?

Signed,

Desperately seeking a miracle. At Wits' End

This is one of the primary draw backs of the current platform. It assumes the end user maintains a relatively constant connection and updates the users local database frequently. The flip side is that if an end user doesn't update frequently and has a large number if items in there local DB this situation occurs. Unfortunately there is no way around it other than renaming your .sdf and starting over. But that would take probably just as much time.

My suggestion is to start the update and then find something else to do for a while. (not much of a miracle, sorry.)

I open the desktop software at least once a week, if not more, and have noticed the last 3 weeks or so that it is MUCH slower than usual to update/open.
I've got about 6,000 items vice mcamp's 146K.
Why would it go from less than 2 minutes to 15+ for me?
Anything/everything else I use a connection for still works nice and speedy.

It doesn't matter if it's 50 Cents or 50 Dollars - if you list it as NM it better be NM.

1st Progress Report (Start: approx. 146,000 updates)
Elapsed Time: 2.5 hours
Progress: 15,100 of 146,000(abt. 10% complete).
What's on my mind about CCL right now: Why can't I stop the update process while maintaining progress I have made?

I going to record updates as my pseudo silent protest of the insanity a paying customer has to endure with this software at times. Is anyone listening?

No.

What are you running on? Granted, you do have a crap-ton of updates to deal with, but I think it would take less time than that. It's not like EVERY single issue in your catalog was changed the last two months.

Oy. I'm about two years behind on my cataloging. Can't wait to see how long that update will take...

I updated last week since I just got a new computer.

13,000+ items took seven hours.

I can't imagine how long a hundred and forty six thousand will take.

I am proud to Announce that I now have 500+ Hero Ratings!!! Thanks to all of my Amazing Customers! Big things are in store for Hall of Heroes this year. It is my personal goal to add a long box a week to my Inventory starting in April, 2014.

Does no one have it set to auto-update on open?

I do and open the software every one to three days. Takes maybe five minutes tops each time.

I do as well, and usually it's no problem. I open the software at least 5 times a week and it never takes very long. But when I had to reinstall the software after getting my new computer the Sync took 7 hours for 13,000 items.

If my math is correct 78.62 hours or 3.28 Days! Thats if it actually updates without Failing & having to start all over again.

I stopped using the sync fuction 2 years ago because every time I did my store would crash & I'd spend a week or more with Joe rebuilding it & still lose data in the process.

If you're a seller, Just wait until you decide to add shelves to your stores. 1 - 5 shelf additions & Moves can take 5/6+ hours for the Update to run.

Hope that the NEW Improved CCL will rectify this VERY Time Consuming Process.

Why not just back-up the files with a remote device/internet site and re-install on the new computer?

True. Syncing Shelves accounted for at least an hour of the time it took.

I thought I had backed up everything on a CD but for some reason it didn't work? Almost certainly something I did wrong.

Is this happening at certain times of the day?

We have our ISP monitoring our hardware, but any specific info you can provide will help.

Thanks.
