So, I am adding a collection of Spider-Man books and I am finding a lot of books that are a combination of issue A and issue B. The book has the cover price "framework" of issue B but has the issue A price. Is this something I should submit as a variant? Thanks for the help! :)

That's just the U.S. newsstand edition. Per CCL's Guidelines, it is not a variant.

So, don't submit it to be added to the database? Is there a way to track it in the database otherwise for my own collection purposes?

Correct.

I make a "Newsstand UPC" notation in the Market Notes section of my issues.

The cover B in your example is the higher priced Canadian Newsstand Edition. It is considered a variant, and the database is full of these.

I'm surprised Swifty responded the way he did. Must be Monday.

The first two images were pulled from the database. Will scan the UPC for the one I'm questioning in a bit.

He was questioning the third one noted as "Variant?" which is what I replied to.

"Cover A" (the direct) and "Cover B" (the Canadian) are already in the database and weren't questioned.

Oh. Now I see what Swifty meant. I couldn't see the C image at first glance on my stupid phone. Disregard.

Why don't we consider the Newsstand to be a variant? The prices are different and so is the UPS? Same as the Canadian ones?

Actually the price is the same. If it was different it would be a variant.

The following stores are all stores that I've dealt with or have become friends with through the forums and I highly recommend them all.

I meant UPC not UPS in my first reply.

And it's not the same though. The standard Villians covers are $2.99 but the newsstands where $3.99. Also, the $2.99 books are $3.99, like Catwoman.

Also, a lot of the ones from the 90's have a UPC in the box while a direct one has text or an image. It seems SOME of these are on CCL and some (most) are not.

I thought price differences were accepted into CCL's database. Confused

I see the 35 cent vs. 40 cent variants from the 70s listed as seperate isses.

I have one or two Canadian newsstand comics, and in other cases, I've been able to compare (using Internet scans) UPCs of U.S. and Canadian newsstand versions of the same issues. In the cases that I have checked, UPCs have been identical between U.S. and Canadian newsstand comics, even when the U.S. and Canadian prices differ. I would expect your UPC to be the same as that on the Canadian comic listed in the CCL Library.

They are - there are listings for UK & Canadian Price Variants - 30/35 Cent Test Price - there just normally isn't a price variant for most Direct and Newstand Edition comics - though there are some exceptions but very few -- Malibu did it with alot of their titles

You aren't the first to suggest this. I have suggested it, too, and I wasn't the first.

Despite the fact that many collectors have specific preferences (some prefer newsstands; others prefer directs), the prevailing industry attitude appears to be that there is no reason to cater to such preferences. As a matter of CCL policy, the newsstand version and direct-sales version of any issue are regarded as equivalent (unless there is a difference in price or other content), and the cover scan in the Library may be newsstand OR direct, depending on which was submitted first.
