With Christmas around the corner, I thought it would be nice to share a favorite comic story tied to the holiday.

For me, my favorite is this issue of Spectacular Spider-Man from 1986.

It's about a burglar going around robbing homes in NYC dressed as Santa Claus.

It's a 1-shot story and there's just so much in it that's great. First, that awesome cover. Second, Spidey has his black costume. Third, I really like seeing when street level superheroes like Spider-Man are dealing with the everyday, ordinary criminals that most other heroes don't bother with. Finally, it has just an awesome ending that I don't want to spoil for anyone.

So what's yours?

When I saw the title of this thread, that comic was the first to jump in to my mind. Great story, fantastic ending.

Here's a good one.

Reasons why:
#1 - Squirrel Girl
#2 - Dr. Tannenbaum
#3 - Dan Slott
#4 - The Rise (and Fall) of Grasshopper II
#5 - Squirrel on Squirrel action!

If you go to the WEIHNACHTSMARKT on my blog (the link is in my sig below) you'll see among other things several classic Christmas comics.

Of those I've posted about so far, The Silent Night of the Batman from BATMAN 219 is one of my favourites. This story itself has very much the feeling of the Christmas Sprirt by Will Eisner--the annual Christmas story that Eisner would do for his Spirit Sections in the '40s.

Another one I like is the Golden Age Wonder Woman classic Fir Balsam from COMIC CAVALCADE No. 5. And the 100-Page JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA 110 is very good--not just because of the new lead story featuring John Stewart, but also because of the reprints and extra features.

And I always enjoy the SUGAR AND SPIKE Christmas comics. They have an assortment of fun things in them.

There are a few others I could mention, but those will be coming up in the next several days on my blog.

MY FAVOURITE FUNNIES
