What does everyone think of this? I could care less personally because I've never been a fan of Thor and wouldn't read it anyway. Is this character THE Thor now or is she in addition to the original? Either way it feels like a gimmick. Maybe the numbers on Thor's book weren't doing very well.

a customer pointed out to me today:

Marvel is owned by Disney.

Thor is the son of a King.

Thor is now a Disney Princess.Laughing

I've asked this before but haven't got an answer. In the comic why is Thor a woman now? What happened to male Thor?

Honestly don't know... I think it may be fallout from Original Sin.

Someone at work who knows I am a comic collector asked me what I thought of Thor's sex change. I had to explain to them that Thor, unlike Loki, was not turning into a woman. This was a totally different individual who was simply gaining the POWERS of Thor because she is worthy of holding Mjolnir. I said it was a gimmick and would be reversed before Avengers 2 comes out.

Haven't read about it or looked into it since I'm not a Thor fan but did wonder if female Thor is Angela...or is that to predictable?

Nope, not Angela. They are both in the lineup for a new Avengers book.

Is any one else getting deja vu over this Watcher storyline? Remember the Earth X storyline that started in the late 90's? The Watcher was alive, but had lost his eyes.... and Thor, somehow was now a woman.

I'd forgotten that, but now that you mention it...

But this time around it's not that Thor is becoming a woman. It's a woman who is becoming Thor.

I've noticed a few similarities between older stories, especially what if stories, and several of Marvel's stories over the last few years. I guess you just run out of ideas after a while.

I think Marvel are making all of their male characters become a women at least once just for the cosplay girls can dress up for comic conventions.

(referring to an original comic book piece) This is a art gallery my friend and THIS is a piece of art.

from what's been released so far, fall-out from Original Sin (already mentioned in this thread) makes Thor no longer worthy to lift his hammer, and somehow the hammer winds up on the moon.
Based on the pictures that have been released we know she's blonde and hides her face.

Who is blonde, wears a mask, "virtuous", and capable of surviving on the moon long enough to retrieve Mjolnir?
Carol Danvers? (i know, she doesn't wear a mask as Captain Marvel)

Actually, the people in charge don't care so much about that anymore, either. Merely finding a way to turn the IP into a licensing cash-cow. If the sales of the comics are good, that's fine. If not, it's okay, so long as the action figures, movies, backpacks, t-shirts, and underoos are all selling well.

I interest faded in Thor when they did away with the Don Blake persona... Some people like me are just too nostalgic....I like Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury, but in the Ultimates Universe, not MY Marvel Universe....
