So, back in April (I think) Steve Borock, formerly of CGC, unveiled his new comic grading company, Comic Book Certification Service (CBCS).

Anybody tried them out yet? Any opinions?

They look good, and much more professional to start the PGX did. However I have to wonder how many CGC scammers will flock to them to see if they can trick them into higher grades.

If your slabbing strictly for personal collecting then would probably use them or PGX just to save money. For reselling books I would stick to CGC just because they arent as known yet.

One thing I found odd though was this

So they cant verify the signature on a book, but if you have a matching letter they can? So if I forged Stan Lees sig on a book couldnt I do it on a piece of paper as well?

Thanks to the following sellers for helping me put together my complete run of Amazing Spider-man #1-700

ComicCastle
TreeHouse
Hall Of Heroes
Thundercron's Longbox
DrumCzar

Now for the sellers helping me finish my TMNT collection:

Green Bay Comics

I think these are in cases where the provenance of the item has been verified over the years.

I did see a new announcement, that they will be certifying signatures without witnesses, much like the PSA baseball card signatures. So, if you've got Jack Kirby's autograph on an old comic, they'll certify it, without the reduced grade.

The prices certainly are cheaper, but I still think the pricing scale is confusing. Not certain how much it would cost to have my Avengers #1 graded.
