There's about 10,000 if I'm not mistaken. I'd give this book some time to settle down maybe after the show is off the air and it should be fairly plentiful to purchase and bring the price down.

If that is the case then why are people paying for something that is strictly show popularity driven If it'll come down drastically after the show is off the air. Are there any examples with past comic related shows where price was sky high for a considerable time then dropped significantly when it went off the air?

Not TV related, but the death of Superman issue was insanely expensive within a week of release and just kept climbing for quite a while. but everybody and their mom has 5 NM copies B&B'ed so they're not worth squat now... It doesn't matter if it's 50 Cents or 50 Dollars - if you list it as NM it better be NM.Xylob's Most Wanted: G.I.Joe Special Missions TPB 2 Tales from the Transformers Beast Wars: Critical Mass Transformers: Timelines #3 - either cover, no preference. Problems with CCL? 615-264-4747 Offices are open M-F 8am-5pm Central Time. X-Files #1 from Topps. Had a print run of about 30,000 copies, and climbed to about $80 in the '90's. Now they go for less than $5 or $10. I picked up one at a show about five years ago for fifty cents.

I think, at this point, it is safe to say that Walking Dead #1 is this generations' Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1. With the caveat that there are more around, and WAY more around in high grade.
I would expect the walking Dead hysteria to die down a little, and that price to cool a bit. But, it is very likely that Walking Dead #1 in NM condition is never again gonna be sold (by someone who knows what they have) for less than $1,000.
I consider myself lucky to have one. I had two. Sold one for peanuts (at least relative to what it's going for now). The other is tucked safely away in my chronological reading stacks to be unearthed when i get to it in about 7 or 8 years.

I don't think this book will ever cool down to the extent of Superman #75. With a print run of 7,300 the majority of the people that own that are comic collectors who collect the series. Add to the mix people who like the TV series and it makes it harder for the actual collectors to pick it up since a new cluster of buyers that weren't in the market normally are now involved. Actually $1,200 for a CGC graded copy isn't bad at all considering i've seen non CGC graded copies sell in the vicinity. If this book does ever cool off, I don't see it losing more than 20-30% of it's value. $15 shipping for a book that sells for $1,200 is fair in my opinion. Factor in the cost of priority rate mail, insurance on something that sold for $1,200 and whatever packing supplies they'll be using to protect the hard plastic case from cracking. wpmcclure wrote:This is currently going for a $1100 on eBay since it has been CGC'd. Seriously...how many #1 first prints are there in the world, 10?!? If it did have a 10 copy print run, then that book would be easily going for $25,000+. It's a really great written series and it has a huge cult following.

Hahaha...yeah, $25,000 oh man...could you imagine the lengths you would need to go to CGC that bad boy. I mean...sleepless nights of wondering if it just magically disappears. Speaking of comics worth something...I wonder if the fabled Thief of Thieves will live up to the hype? #1 17,877 #2 14,286 #3 13,644 #4 17,774 Funny that #1 is going for so much more than #2 and #3...i mean...just look...unless a bunch were returned for credit or however that works.

Damn really? I probably would've sold mine if I had known that.

Forgive the tangent, but how does one find the print run of any said comic on that website, icv2? You've piqued my interest in certain books I've had suspicions about. Thanks.
Big signatures are REALLY annoying.

I like to use the comics chronicles. They usually report past the norm of 300. Please do tell what books you're talking about!
