What happened to Abin Sur? He survived Flashpoint but isn't referred to in the Green Lantern books.

The post Flashpoint Green Lantern continuity is largely unchanged, meaning that Abin Sur still died and his ring found Hal Jordan. By the way, an upcoming storyarc in Green Lantern, "The Secret of the Indigo Tribe," has something to do with Abin Sur.

I'm pretty sure everything in Flashpoint was wiped clean by the end of the story. I'm gonna have to go back and re-read again, now.

I must congratulate DC on their 52 reboot. Compared to the already impressive amounts of DC reboots, this one has largely worked brilliant.
I only see Green Arrow as the big loser as I prefered the old Ollie which is why I dropped the title.
The big winners, in my opinion, are Teen Titans, Superman and the Earth 2 titles which I enjoy very much.
And, of course compared to Marvel, DC isn't swamping the market with issues. I mean there hasn't been a 52 mini series since it started. I mean you have to wait an ENTIRE month before you can read the next issue.Laughing

Abin Sur is still dead. They did not change anything in Green Lantern or Batman (the books that actually sell). The other books were not selling and needed a kick start. With the exception of some (Aquaman, JLA and Batman & Robin) most of the books have been terrible. Its unfortunate that even with the reboot DC is still circling the toiletBroken Heart .....

Jeph Loeb Color Books = Tracing

Collector: Hey man. If somebody draws something
and then you draw the same thing right on top of it, not going out-side the designated original art, what do you call that!
Little kid:I don't know. Tracing?
Collector:(to Banky) See?
Banky: It's not tracing.
Collector: Oh, but it is.
Banky:(to Little Kid) Do you want your book signed or what?
Collector: Hey - don't get all testy with him
just because you have a problem with your station in life.
Banky: I'm secure with what I do.
Collector: Then say it - you're a tracer.

i love all the Dc new 52 but only because i'm a die hard DC fan i mostly love the justice league an i feel people on not liking the story's but i think they good not great but just good or maybe fine (an yes at time that sh*t do have me like wtf did i just read i spent money on this sh*t awwwwwAngry Yawn Broken Heart )but aside from that the art is good to me an marvel has't dropped anything worth reading to me but AvX stuff so my rating on the NEW 52 would be on all of them 7 out of 10 with aquaman, flash, batman,Dark knight, green lantern,Justice League and maybe just maybe superman<(new outfit suck)and Action comics<(outfit also sucks)being all the big hitters an all the others are just good.(this is all my Opinion)

I can't speak for everyone, but for me personally, it's a spit in the face to loyal readers. We've been following and supporting these characters for 20+ years and suddenly they just decide that none of it even matters. It's all going down the crapper. If someone did that other popular media out there like Twilight, Pokemon, or James Bond; you better believe there'd be people upset about it.

Maybe if these changes were good enough to warrant it, I might be a little less bitter. But frankly, it's not. The old DC Universe was giving us better stories and better characters. And if anything, they've messed up their own continuity by doing so, rather than fixing it. I mean how can Batman go through 3 different Boy Wonders in a 5-year span?

For once, I agree with BD. Some of us (not me, natch Angel ) have been following these books for 40 or 50 years easy, and they frequent these forums.

If you think this is bad, just wait for Marvel Now. Not enough reasons for me to be optimistic about this maneuver; not the least of which has been all tried before, failed, and reversed. Why again now?

For those who enjoy the New 48, God bless, pleases me to know there are newer readers out there still interested... just don't forget what it took to get there.

Well, now I know how all the old-timers felt when the original Crisis on Infinite Earths wiped away their universe to make way for my generation's Post-Crisis universe. Karma is a B.

It's funny that you mention James Bond in your post, since that's pretty much exactly what happened with Casino Royale (the following two films). It's also happened with Star Trek recently. Both of those were big properties that got reboots that were wildly successful, revitalizing their franchises. The same could be said of the New 52. Since the reboot, most of the top 10 books in any given time frame have been DC books and Marvel appears to be scrambling to keep up (hence the "Marvel Now" shenanigans).

I don't think you've heard from too many longtime fans of those franchises, then. Because I've heard many complaints from those camps.

That may have been your experience. My experience with long term fans (went to see the new Star Trek with a bunch of them) has been over all positive.

I think he is saying he has heard a lot of negativity regarding the DC reboot, less the Star Trek franchise. But at least J. J. Abrahms left the canon intact and preserved the continuity with the whole "parallel universe" thing, which soothed longtime trekkers into thinking it was okay to have their favorite icons being portrayed by other actors. DC... well, let's say less consideration to the faithful.

Correct in that DC owns the top 10 in sales, but they seem to own a great share of aggravation as well. Marvel just hasn't been in the news as much during this time, hence the overhaul that no-one seems to want.

I meant both, actually. I've heard many Star Trek fans say that it's a great movie, on it's own. But it just doesn't feel like Star Trek. And as a longtime Star Trek fan, I have to agree.

Mine have been mostly all positive too. I'm glad that they did it, it got rid of a LOT of dead weight. I sell at least twice as many, and have 30% more NEW DC customers than before.

Marvel is so convoluted now (worse than DC was) that Marvel Zombies (aptly named) are just buying the books in hope that something will actually happen. Marvel should do a complete reboot, but they are too chicken-(banned)e to try... so we get Marvel Now... which won't be 'now' inside of 2 years. Don't mistake me. I LOVE the Marvel characters. The bar is just so low, mediocrity equals great in the House of Everyone Elses' Ideas, but they could be so much better instead of this change-for-change sake crap that they are shoveling.

BurningDoom is correct about a 'slap in the face'... but it was a much needed one.

Was I the only one hoping Zatanna would get her own series in the New 52 line?

I definitely don't mind seeing her. Winking But I haven't seen enough from her to warrant her own ongoing.
