I'm trying to read more of the old stuff by Marvel, without having to spend a ton of money on back issues. So I've been focusing on Omnibus style books and came across this one on ebay, so I bought it for $20 with free shipping. It's a full fledged Omnibus so can anybody help me out here with this book? Doesn't seem to be in the main stream of the x-men timeline.

Here is the link to Amazon.com showing the Omnibus HC. Just wanted to know if anyone has read it and how or if it fits in the overall x-men timeline. It sounds pretty cool. X-men: the Chaos Engine Trilogy (Doctor Doom/Magneto/Red Skull)Now i need to dig around and see if I can find the X-Statix Omnibus, heard that was different as well as a good read...

It's my understanding that these stories were strictly text based paperback novels. None of those fit into any continuity if that's what you're asking.

I'm a huge X-Men fan and had never heard of this. That's because it's not comics. Just a collection of three novels. And based on a spoiler of book 1 I just read these aren't close to being in continuity.
"Those who can see have climbed high enough on the mountain where their view of the horizon is much more broad than your own view. You're still at the base, so when they're talking to you they can see so much more than you. And you might disagree because you're at the base and you don't see $hit." -Greg Capullo

Gotcha, it looks like a good read and the reviews are really good. Lets see if I can get through this ginormous book and comment on it after I finish....in a year...haha....

I've read those! I got them a while ago (5+ years ago, probably closer to ten) at a used book shop in town. Not a bad read, I thought it got kind of boring after the first, but I didn't really know much about comics outside of the X-Men and Spider-Man. Anyway, I still have them on my shelf and if you enjoy them I might have to give them another read through!
