I'm going through adding what I have into the database. This is a daunting task with the sheer number of different expansions out now. Anyone else that has a store gone this path before? And if you sell MTG on CCL, is it selling well or is the following just not here yet.

There is at least one other user with store that I have seen adding a ton of MTG cards - CollectorsFriend is the user.

I buy them, but the price has to be right. Also, is there a way to list the cards by name as opposed to just the set? For instance, if I search 'Serra Angel', nothing comes up... that isn't really useful...

Agreed - but that's the way CCL works. Searches on the Caption field are not available. That's one of the reasons the CCG Guidelines recommend using Story Arcs to define the Card type. If you know the name and type of card (let's say Dwarf Wizard for MTG) - you could do a Story Arc search for MTG: Dwarf or MTG: Wizard and all cards matching that Story Arc would show up. Then you just need to look thru those that match to find the card you want - is it the best? No, but it would work. Unfortunately it seems that most submitters don't enter that info - which would help sales in stores if that data was entered, IMO.

^ It would definitely help sales. Imagine if you could only search for comics by title and not by issue number. That's pretty much what is going on with the Magic listings. This is something maybe Joe could look into.

This is something maybe Joe could look into. That's all you can do - you can't search by issue number in comics now anyway. It's not like you are losing functionality - searching by caption/Issue Number isn't an existing function. I agree that being able to search by the Caption field (for card title, figure name, etc) would be VERY useful for Trading cards, CCG Cards, Action Figures, and Statues/Busts.

I can definitely see it being tough looking for a specific card like that. Chances are though if you know what specific card you want, you know what set to look in. But I agree, anything that makes searches easier can increase sales.
I'm working on getting my collection together on here. When I do I plan on selling commons for $.05, uncommons for $.25 and so on. but its gonna take me awhile. Also I haven't really worked out a good shipping rate yet...

Maybe the entire database should have been set up with the card title as the main listing and the set as the sublisting. That way you would have Serra Angel - 4th Edition Serra Angel - Revised etcetera. That would make the set as sorta the publisher like comics. I know you would want to make sure and separate Magic from other CCGs but I would think that most people looking to buy would be looking for either single cards, sets, or packs. And adding a sort by publisher (set) should be easier. Actually, selling packs or sets should be easier anyway. Hal

It's not ideal, but Google can search a website for specific terms, including the caption and item bio field.
If you go to Google and do a search (without quotes) in the following format, you can get a lot of specifics.
"Search Topic" site:comiccollectorlive.com
