Many votes for many different books this week, but in a bit of a suprise, NEW MUTANTS #5 secures the most votes.

Vote for this week's top read above. Tell everyone what you think of your reads below.

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving!

How is astonishing x-men not up here? Anyway that's my vote. I'd really like to see this book get on a normal schedule. I liked this story. It was the X-Men doing their usual. A crazy mission to rescue Agent Brand in an out of control space ship. Nice cliffhanger at the end too.

Amazing Spider-Man was the book of the week for me! I loved the Clone Saga (except the rushed end), and it's back! (in more than one book!) So all you haters can suck it! I want to see Scarlet Spider by the end of this Pray

Astonishing never gets many votes.

Agents of Atlas was a good read. I am really digging this retro style team. They did a number on the X-Men and it wasn't like WWH. It made perfect sense that they got the victory. Good read.

Now on to the rest of my stack...

Doctor Voodoo was great from the opening, loved the way he proved to Dormammu that he was not just the new guy. Good art too

I'm not voting for anything.

I hate Astonishing. More specific, I hate Warren Ellis' writing. This issue was a waste. The whole dang thing was a random rescue mission and we never really got any idea as to what Agent Brand was doing and the ending was even more random! The art was fantastic, but I'm ready for Ellis to move on from X-Men.

Cable was more of the same. If they say that Bishop has to see Hope in order to kill her one more time, then I'm going to scream. I don't care that this is in space, it's tired. I'm ready for the third part of the Messiah trilogy.

I was afraid of this.. I haven't read it yet but if Cable doesn't pick up soon, its going bye bye.

Strange Tales was it for me- very clever.
I enjoyed Astonishing- if it'll be monthly, that's the most important thing for me.
Deadpool was funny as well, playing into the whole Nation X thing very well.
The Ghosts of my Country was a neat story simultaneously not featuring and featuring Captain America.
A bunch more books, nothing terrible, but nothing terrific either.

Doctor Voodoo #1:

This was actually a good read! Often, I find these "new" series by Marvel as fishing expeditions. They rarely use aknown writer or artist, and seem to be only concerned in seeing what kind of interest they attract. Never really jumping into a project with both feet so to say. As i stated early though, this was not the case here. Rick Remender did an excellent job of weaving a story that was both fresh and respectful of continuity. And Jefte Palo's art fit both the chracters and the story very well.
I don't want to give too much away, but I want to drop a little teaser, because I think more people will be interested when they read this. In this issue, Jericho Drumm manages to battle Dormammu (one of the Underworld's heavyweights), pi$$ off Doctor Strange and engage in a spectacular battle with Victor Von Doom! Partner this with the Eye of Agomotto revealing some huge secret to Doom but not Voodoo and well, you have yourself the makings of a great new series.
This was also one of the first issues where I appreciated all of the extras in the back. Use them with more obscure characters Marvel!

Astonishing X-Men #31

Okay, lets start with the obvious. I can't remember what happened in the previous issue because it came out half a year ago! So, I'll try to remember to go and dig up AX #30 at some point in time just so I can understand why #31 starts this way. I realize I am getting old, but this irregular schedule does not help (least of all in terms of continuity.)
The issue itself...
It was pretty good! Ellis definitely loves, "witty banter." Having the X-Men still in San Fransisco takes a minute or two to get used to, but the story works. This is probably because of the suprise ending which features a long thought dead New X-Men (whose powers were pheremone based...)
All-in-all, I didn't mind this story. Sure the Brood part was completely ripped off from Alien, but heck, it was back when the Brood were created as well. Sure Agent Brand has more testosterone than Wolverine and Captain America combined, but hey, whe makes for a great antagonist and an even more interesting companion to the Beast.
I didn't hate this read, so i guess I must have liked it....a little.

Deadpool #16

AWESOME! Starting this review any other way would have been a disservice to the book. Daniel Way knocked this sucker right out of the park!
Deadpool should be an X-men, pure and simple. And if Marvel has any brains, they will keep him there. Sure, keep running his solo book, like Wolverine, but get him on a team. I think it should be one of the main teams as well, not X-Force. X-Force would be too obvious.
This issue had me laughing my a$$ off from start to finish. What a welcome break from the seriousness of Norman Osborn. Just the conversation on the roof is worth admission alone.
Great book. Lots of potential with this move!

9.5/10

Probably my read of the week, but I'm only part way through the stack.

Dark Reign: Zodiac #3 (of 3)

I think this was definitely the best of the Dark Reign minis. It was obscure, stand-alone and dark. It had some gaps, but I chalk that up to, "Leaving openings for future storylines."
The Zodiac might be a rip-off of DC's Joker, but hey, it's not like this is the first time that's happened for either company. And if anything, he is much cooler than a dude dressed as a clown!
It will be interesting to see what becomes of Zodiac. I'm sure the sales weren't very good for this obscure book, so only time will tell.

This story is not a continuation from the last issue. So that confusing notion you have as to what's going on? Yeah, that was intentional.

That would explain it.
But here is my next question then...Intentional, but why?

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. It was so random. They are saving Brand most of the issue, then out of nowhere Laurie pops up and then just as quickly as she does, her guts explode and she turns into a Sentinel? W T F!

There's gotta be some cliffhanger right? Ellis can't give all of the story away in the first issue.

Only 2 Marvel books for me this week so it's not to hard to pick my favorite.I went with Vengeance Of Moon Knight #2. The other book I bought was Amazing Spider-man.I hate clones or any mention of them so this book got in my crawl. Please for the love of all things big and small DO NOT..I repeat...DO NOT bring back that stupid clone story and/or Ben Reily. The best thing about Ben Reily is him being dead.So leave it that way.
