I'm such an anti-social gamer. I want to explore a world on my own and have a story told to me. Online games don't really provide that. So I doubt I'll be getting this.

For the most part I agree. My love affair with MMOs has passed for the most part, but there are two things that strike me as different with this incarnation, to the point that I am hoping it is subscription based, to weed out the F2P crowd:

A Bethesda product in the hands of Zenimax could suit up to be a marriage made in heaven. Once I saw that they had, from all appearances, responded to the outcry of fans against the humdrum graphics (based on their screenshots months ago) with a product that actually resembled the picturesque Elder Scrolls landscapes, I knew right then and there they cared about their supporters and they wanted to release a winner. Watch the video, and there is precious little difference between it and what Skyrim is now. They were probably in the lurks hoping to compete with the stellar graphics and art direction of Final Fantasy 14; little did they know they would have nothing to fear regarding gameplay.

This could have been the game Curt Schilling wanted with Kingdoms of Amalur. We will never know.

And with the rehatched imagery comes the prospect of exploring all of Tamriel the way the Cyrodiilian Gods intended. Imagine returning to Morrowind for instance, under the mechanics and auspices of today's controllers? Just got a shiver, it could be that good.

Any XBox users tried out the Dragonborn expansion yet? Us Steam folks have to wait a bit...

If it wasn't Christmas season, I would have. I have most of my Christmas shopping done. Everyone except for my wife is done, even my Christmas donations. Thing is, she gets the best gifts, so maybe after Christmas I'll be getting it.
