The Lady Deaths I have pending for approval are being called Emerald City Comic Con exlusives on both the ECCC site and the publishers site. I feel that an exception/change to the rules for Cons should be made here. I provided links to both ECCC and publisher declairing them as exclusives. The colors are even in green to kind of add to the exclusiveness(?). I feel it should not need a logo to be a con exclusive.

It doesn't need a logo as long as the art is different in order to get added to the database, however in order to get called an ECCC exclusive the Approver might want to see proof that it is an exclusive. If the only thing that makes it an exclusive in an autograph on a regular cover, then that wouldn't count. Anyone can get an autograph on a regular cover.

I agree that these should be listed and tagged as con exclusives when the publisher calls them that, even if the con logo doesn't appear on the book. Unfortunately not all the Approvers are on the same page. The problem is that this is not clearly spelled out anywhere that I can find so the Approvers are interpreting it differently.

CCL has only put info in the database when it's in or on the comic in hand. As I mentioned in the cR anything can be added to the bio. But we've never tagged or put in the caption con info for random non-specific Lady Death covers in the past, especially since they have explicit cover names on them. And, generally don't do it with other convention covers. If the book doesn't say its con exclusive it will likely be sold at future cons. The fact that they were first released at ECCC will be in the bio. Again, that's in line with most every other unmarked con book.

Putting info in the bio is great, Dan, but doesn't at all help someone searching for books. That's why we created tags... to help people find books. If the con website and the publisher website both name it as a con-specific book, why not add it as a tag? I get that it doesn't have a logo on it, but we've never set that as the definition of a con-exclusive book.

But we have always said information should be in or on the book/card/trade/toy to be included.

Then perhaps it's time to revisit that idea in this instance.
*Edit: Besides, that's not how we use tags in other cases. We have created our own tags that list things that are obvious about books but not printed in or on them (Skottie Young baby covers, for example). I'm not sure how this would be different.
