So it's that time of year again, where ghouls and ghosts pop out. I saw Curse of Chucky last night which was straight to DVD and I was surprised by it in all honesty. I wasn't expecting much with the last few they released, that were pretty much horrible. However this one is more horror/slasher than it is comedy. It also has some really cute girls in it Big Grin. It takes place after all the other ones but it touches on Charles origins and the type of person he was. Not to mention Mancini came back to play the voice of Chucky. I'd give it 3/5 stars, worth the watch for those horror aficionados.

Doesn't come out until November on Netflix, so I'll be seeing it then.

It's your call if you would want your pre-teens to see it. The DVD comes with a rated R version and an unrated version. Their is a lesbian scene (just making out) and the gore is pretty graphic. It's not the type of slasher that leaves it to imagination, it will show you the actual scene of whatever way Chucky chooses to kill them.

Chucky movies have always been this way. Makes me wonder why it's being questioned with this particular entry.

Probably because the last two Chucky movies (not counting Curse of Chucky) were a joke. They were more comical than dark like the first two. The first two were more serious and then it was more like a horror/comedy. This one has the feel of the first two, which is probably why I found it decent.

Even the humorous ones had some pretty dark humor. (And how the hell do 2 plastic dolls make a baby?)

Personally, I grew up on that kind of stuff, being a kid out of the 80s. I'm fit for society, it didn't scar me for life. I just thought if you were the kind of parent that does worry about that kind of stuff, why let them watch any Chucky movie?

the other chucky movies they saw were on network tv so alot of its cut out. Horror movies get rated R sometimes for some really mild stuff and others are way above and beyond.

I'm fine with my girls watching your run of the mill slasher (i grew up in the 80's too and watch most horrors from the 60's on up), its just if movie has a bunch of raunchy soft porn or simulating bj's with handguns, doing coke off breasts and the stuff like that I have a problem with.

And you really can't judge a movie off past ones anymore as they can be like night and day from one another.
