I've never been a big fan of Iron Man or anything "robotic" - just didn't strike me as worthwhile reading. That is...until I picked up
War Machine (Vol 2) #1 on a whim at my local LCS last week. I had heard some good things about the book, but I was unprepared for what I saw inside the cover. I had never heard of
Leonardo Manco - but his artwork sold me on this book. Detailed and gritty, with a realism feel that puts you right in the action! I was already a fan of Greg Pak and so to see his name as Writer was a bonus that almost made me giddy.
As for the book...kick ass! From page one to the final heart-stopping panel, I was stunned by what I was reading and seeing. Knowing virtually nothing about War Machine made this book even more thrilling to read. Rhodey's past, his creation as War Machine, some close friends, a past enemy...and action, action, ACTION! It's all here and it's all good. Pick it up while it's still on the shelf!
