Look, I know it's almost Halloween.
I'm spending just as much time trying to piece together a costume for Halloween night like everyone else is. Comics are full of zombies, apes, skrulls and other assorted creatures - but people, you're hanging out in the WRONG genre.
Westerns are so much fun to read these days, and Dynamite's
Lone Ranger is a perfect example of how the right creative team can give a book new legs.
Matthews and Cariello are a six-shooter force to be reckoned with on this title, and the covers by
John Cassaday are out of this world.
Cariello's style of art is unique; a mixture of a young Joe Kubert and Mike Zeck - combining gritty detail and emotion with simple backgrounds. (Not to mention that if you ever get the chance to meet Mr. Cariello, he's one of the nicest and most professional artists out there.)
Seriously, if the cover alone doesn't make you want to buy this book, you don't know the difference between a Skrull and a Kree. The down sides to reading or collecting the Lone Ranger? Dynamite's poor shipping schedule has made the Lone Ranger a LOOOOONG ride to the finish with only 14 issues being published in over 2 years. An insane amount of variant incentive covers published in house including negatives and virgins, and you have a title very hard to complete to it's fullest. Still, take the business side of the comic out, and you have a book that TOTALLY should be on your weekly pull list.
AWAYYYYYYYYYY!
