Magnus, Robot Fighter has a 50's feel in each page; not in the look but in the themes it presents. Magnus is based on Asimov's I Robot short stories. The basic robotic law is a condensed version of the three robotic laws developed by Isaac Asimov in the 50's. I don't think Shooter has been able to leave the cultural baggage behind and develop a 21st century version of the 40th century adventure meant to be Magnus.
One can accept Russ Manning's work be dated to the 50's but not Shooter's. This cultural tie will hinder the acceptance of this launch greatly; no amazing cover artists will camouflage this fact.
