52 REVIEW - It's 1938 All Over Again

It's a bold move for DC to have changed drastically one of it's two big icons. Then again, Superman has always been such a boring character. Really, what can you do with a guy who can do anything and doesn't have a personality?

Anyway, here in the new 52, this Superman as a kid-ish (the time all of the new 52 comics takes place is different for all of them) at least has some kind of personality and isn't all powerful. I dug the 1930's feel of the comic, via the original Action Comics #1. This new Superman tries to play as one of us common folk trying to stop the "evil" business men type.

The problem with this story is, Lex Luther's evil plot comes across sort of cheesy and stupid. On top of this, the feel of the comic is 1930's but it can't seem to make up it's mind if this is a comic about social issues, or a superhero comic. I guess in the long run, if one sticks with this title, it would be fun to see how and why Superman changes from this version, to the version he is in Superman #1.

All in all - an ok comic at best, 2.5/5 It's no All-Star Superman for sure.
