It's the 1880's in Gotham City. Jonah Hex and Dr. Arkham are called by the Gotham Police to help investigate a serial killer. I guess historically the Gotham Police could never solve any crimes without someone NOT on payroll.... Anyway, it's a fun comic that works on many levels. First, the art fits the characters, tone and old west background. Second, the characters, Two-Face - urrr I mean Jonah Hex and Dr. Arkham play well as an odd couple type. Third, the dialogue is crisp and story flows. This is a very readable comic.
I'm sorry DC named it wrong though. I doubt a comic called All Star Western will last longer then a comic called Jonah Hex. It would be a shame to see this go so soon because of a bad name and price tag. But again, if this is an anthology, I guess Hex won't be in every issue.
All in all - very good comic, one of the best new 52's - 4/5.
