A Tolkienesque Story

One can see why Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time series is so popular and how it is possible to write so many books as this world is so painstakingly developed, following the trend set forth by JRR Tolkien in his Lord of the Rings masterpiece.

This adaptation is worthy of the novels and Chuck Dixon is proven to be a good interpreter of Jordan’s work. My only concern is with the style set forth in the interpretive art; each panel seems too crowded and in some panels rushed. The selection of color is also problematic as it obscures certain scenes, especially the back story scenes.

There is a lot of complexity to the story, but the treatment is worthy of a writer that has captured the essence of the story as set forth by Jordan. It’s well worth getting this series and my hat to the people at Dynamite for continuing to bring this series for our enjoyment.
