Alone

This story is really coming together. It's helping to bring War Machine to the forefront as a serious contender in this superhero business.

In this issue we get to see a bit more of what makes James Rupert Rhodes tick. We get a few flashbacks that quickly summarize what life was like as he grew up. It takes but a few panels for most of us to relate to Rhodey's motives and actions.

This is also the issue where War Machine gets a chance to assess the situation at hand. He's quickly realizing what's happening and sets out to help whoever he can.

I'm not gonna tell you how this issue ends, but everything goes to hell after this point.

The art was well handled once again by Chen. The action sequences are a plenty and they are easy to follow, even amidst the chaos.

Gage's writing was top notch here, as mentioned, we really got a feel for what Rhodey's mental state is in just a few short pages. The emotions that this guy is going through are just leaping off of every word bubble. The whole issue was "loud" in a good way. I enjoyed it alot and can't wait to see what's next for our ebony and silver clad protagonist.

Part 2 of the story arc was another success, if this momentum holds up, the conclusion will be killer!!
