Ash Who???

Machine Man, Aaron Stack plays the role of Ash Williams better than Ash Williams does. Fred van Lente is spot-on with the timing of Machine Man's lines. Only three issues in and I feel Aaron Stack's contempt for heroes, the human society he protects and his very own existence. In my opinion, there is not another person in the Marvel Universe that I would have rather seen sent to the Zombie Universe. Jacosta's role was less crucial in my eyes until this issue, which highlighted her own insecurities nicely (the Zombie version of Wasp didn't help matters much.) Turns out the Zombies had their own little Skrull-like swap/infiltration going on within the 50 State Initiative. And using Morbius as their mole was genius! The heroes seem to be in a tight spot, so we will see how they work their way out of this bloody mess. Kev Walker's art is.........alright. Not bad but definitely not the best artist suited for this series. Thin thinly inked lines seem to barely hold the forms together (if that makes any sense at all?) I likes MZ 1, abandoned MZ 2 part way through and am glad that I gave this third instalment a shot. It is smart, witty, and creative all at the same time. And the upcoming cover featuring a ‘Zombified’ version of the MI:13 has me intrigued. An easy choice for my pick of the week.
