In Lucid we have the merger of science and sorcery in a high voltage conflict that gives rise to intrigue and multi-dimensional visitations by beings that want to conquer Earth and hold dominion over its inhabitants. We have government officials engaged in manipulating spells and scientists immersed in understanding the others out there. Lucid #1 introduces the main players involved in this struggle and brings the reader into this twisted world.
The most impressive aspect of the art from Lucid is the use of color to depict light. I’m not a fan of manga-style illustrations but it works well when not over done.
The writing is passable. How much better would the story be with a more polished writer? The concept is good and should carry the story to its end in the next three issues.
