I went to pick up today's release of the Hulk and was torn...the Frank Cho cover or the Art Adams? Not that I dislike Michael Turner's work, but there are not too many artists who are above Cho and Adams on my list.
The decision was made for me, as the Cho variant wasn't available, and something about the Art Adams cover hit me like deja vu. I had been re-reading my collection of Tales of Suspense and Tales to Astonish recently...arguably some of the strongest material in Marvel's backlog...and there it was: the classic split cover for titles that shared two features.
The inside was a complete fulfillment of that cover promise. I was treated to two features, one for a grey Hulk (Joe Fixit is
BAAAACK!), one for a red Hulk (known as Rulk these days), giving Cho and Adams each their own feature. These shorter format stories had everything that the classic "Tales" books had going for them, quick-hitting fun story lines that tantalized and left you begging for more. Jeph Loeb, whether intentionally or not, hit the nail on the head with these stories. And after my art heroes Adams and Cho produce mostly covers these day, interior art by them was a delight. Pick this book up for a nostalgic trip to the days of Make Mine Marvel.
