Over the past couple of years I have come to understand that I love Mark Millar. He pushes all the right buttons for me. It's not as though everything he touches turns to gold, but almost!
This, the fifth installment of the series, is a perfect example of Millar's brilliance. What a fantastic read. This story balanced equal parts shock, history, layered storytelling and much more.
The reader tags along on this roller coaster ride, as we continue to learn more about the Red Skull. Millar has developed this villain to be evil in every sense of the word. I can't think of any other stories that have so accurately portrayed a sadistic villain, as this one has.
Throw in some jokes about the French, and a bit of background information that gels perfectly with the Ultimates II series, and you have a perfect comic book.
I advise everyone to buy this book. It doesn't matter that you don't own the the first four issues. I doesn't even matter if you hate the Ultimate Universe. This is a book worth owning for pure comic enjoyment.
Check it out, you won't be disappointed!
