While I am a big Wolverine fan, I don't often have nice things to say about his books. In fact, Origins has been one of the most disappointing Wolverine series in my opinion. This book however, changes all of that. As the 3'rd part of the "Original Sin" storyline, this issue comes together very nicely. It also helps expand on what is currently going on in X-Men: Legacy.
A couple of things happen that really help recapture that good old feeling I used to have when reading X-Men comics. The first is Wolverine's savagery. He rips through members of the Hellfire Club with no hesitation. The second is the conniving genius portrayal of Sebastian Shaw. He shows his original good form by manipulating everyone with chess-like precision.
While at first I didn't buy Xavier as a bad guy (see his running feud with Cyclops). This issue really helps hammer home that this one time leader of mutants has done some pretty horrible things in his time. Finding out the Wolverine was not exempt from Xavier's mind manipulation was a very interesting twist.
This was pretty close to my favourite read of the week.
