I thought that this collection had tremendous promise that it never really lived up to. Gabrielle Dell'Otto is a very gifted artist. His painting style really works, especially on expressionistic characters like Wolverine. The Brian Michael Bendis story however, does not live up to the standards of the art. One of the biggest distractions in the book were the pages, upon pages of computer data base information (dialogue, Fury's classified files etc.) These sections truly made me feel as though I was being short changed in the story department. The story also never really scratches the surface of any one concept. Maybe that was intentional, being this was a book about espionage and black ops assignments. Nonetheless, the story left me wanting more.
One thing I thought was truly exceptional was the alternate uniform designs in the back of the book. I thought that Dell'Otto really came up with some amazing looks for characters like Captain America, Wolverine and most of all Daredevil. I wouldn't mind seeing some of these designs used. The art is worth checking out if you don't have to spend your hard earned money on the book.
