About Bizarre Heroes
Don Simpson, who had written and illustrated the run of Megaton Man (Kitchen Sink, 1984), started to expand upon his creative universe with this one-shot title. Featuring his creation Megaton Man, Simpson expanded his collection of heroes and villains, revolving around the concept of science fiction writer with plans for World domination. The writer attempts to turn his fictional plot (dubbed Project Mainstream) to reality by secretly taking DNA samples from victims, and producing an army of super-powered Megaclones.
Simpson's work, heavily reminiscent of Marvel's Not Brand Echh title, produced a smart lampoon of the Big Two's trade-in-stock.
This one-shot was followed up by 1994's title, Don Simpson's Bizarre Heroes, which continued the story line.
