The story really begins to pick up in this second issue. Jackpot is holding her own with the Super Skrull, but she is worried that she can’t take the Skrull on by herself. She realizes that she needs help.
Jackpot helps some of the DB staff out of the building as a Super Skrull pursues. All the while the Skrull is wondering where Spider-Man is. As you know, Spider-Man is busy fighting his clone Skrull and of course a heard of T-Rexes’ in the savage land.
The story weaves a tale of Harry Osborn trying to protect his beloved Lilly from another Super Skrull (of whom we are not sure why he is pursuing Harry). Harry is quite the hero as he continues to protect Lilly from the advancing Skrull. But the story still leaves us wondering what is going on with the Osborn side story.
Enter Menace who sidetracks Jackpot from protecting the DB staff (Bennett, Brant, and Robertson, as well as officer Gonzales Peter’s roommate.
This is turning out to be a great story that weaves parallel stories into one captivating arc. The writing is good and the art is very good. I sort of miss Spider-Man, but that nagging absence soon disappeared as I began to be enthralled with the story line. This is a fun read.
