Shocker says, “Are you kidding Boomerang? I’m not voting…” “Why Not?” asks Boomerang. How cool is that? As the two villains are on their way to kill “The Bookie” they are talking about voting on election day. You gotta love that!
The dialog in this first of a four part story starts off with the NYC Mayoral race at the forefront of the story line. The story line weaves in and out of the election and proves to be quite an interesting start. The pundits are talking, the police are investigating, and the plot is thickening. When the duo gets to the booking, they find him already dead. And when the police get there they find a spider-tracer on the dead man. Only to solidify Spider-Man’s vigilante status.
This issue has Spider-Man running from the law, getting shot, and fighting Menace while mortally wounded. It’s Spidey at his best. Not to mention Harry Osborn proposes to Lilly Hollister, daughter of Bill Hollister Mayoral candidate. Action packed and plot driven.
I am a big fan of Marc Guggenheim’s writing, and this story starts out with a bang. The dialog is captivating, and it is a great read! And, you gotta love John Romita Jrs’ fantastic artwork! Great art, great writing, and a great storyline. Don’t miss this arc. It starts out fantastic!
