For Gotham their savor could not have come soon enough, same old Gotham, all new Bruce Wayne, or should I say all new Bruce Wayne impostor? The Hush is out of the bag so to speak and wearing Bruce Wayne’s face. He may not be able to beat the new Batman and Robin in the ring but he can take their legs out from under them financially. In an attempt to change the playing field Hush is handing out Wayne money like it was free bobble head day. While he is doing good for the community his real motive may be to ground the new dynamic duo by eliminating their funds.
Never fear though as Bats (it still feels weird to call Dick that) and Robin have a clever ace up their sleeve. What is that stage right? Oh look it is a splash page cameo of some longtime Batman allies that are on scene to keep Hush inline at all times.
So far Streets of Gotham has delivered the goods and far outshot any expectations I had coming into series. It is always great when that happens isn’t it? It just makes me hope that there is not a shoe out there waiting to drop on my head. While for me as a reader it is still hard to adjust to Tim Drake’s departure as Robin I like what I see here. For the first time you get to see Dick and Damian basically on the same page in wanting a quick end to Hush’s run as Bruce’s impostor. They are how ever faced with a difficult choice: While Hush is doing a lot to help the struggling city of Gotham (be it with Wayne family money) and let’s face it Gotham needs all the help it can get, they can’t let him keep spending like no tomorrow. It will be interesting to see their strategy play out and it will be even more interesting if and when the real Bruce Wayne returns.
