Terminator 1984 fits very well with the whole Terminator universe as envisioned by Cameron and developed by so many talented writer and artists. Zack Whedon brings extreme talent to the execution of this Terminator series and Andy MacDonald keeps pace with an exacting graphic design that complements well the story.
The only observation I would make is that there should be a little more creativity when depicting the beginning of the story when the Terminator comes back to 1984 and again needs to take on a garbage truck. We don’t need to revisit the same story elements all the time; have pity on sanitation workers and their trucks for Pete’s sake.
We are exposed to how the Terminator’s arm was recovered, but not the remaining of the body. We assumed that the destruction of the factory took care of the body, which is unlikely since it survived everything else. Now we know that well placed dynamite could shatter the skeleton to enough pieces to make it impossible to reconstruct; I’ll buy this explanation.
I would think that we will see more of the corporate types that set the course for Skynet to take over the world in future issues. This story is well crafted and leaves me wanting more.
