What an insufferably inept comic book. We are now four issues into Fraction building Stark Resilient and trying to make us care about Detroit Steel (ugh) and the Hammer women. Since the Detroit Steel/Hammer women is a complete bore and as transparent a storyline as there could be, let's focus on the building of Stark Resilient. Plus, it takes up way more pages every issue than anything else. We're four issues (that's 88 pages and four months) into Fraction rewriting the American Business Manual in comic book form. This issue we focused on warehouse and office space amenities. Last issue it was interviewing techniques. The issue before that was how to hire a secretary. I only wish I was kidding.
Oh, and there's that whole vibe Fraction is writing of Rhodey liking Tony Stark as more than just a friend. Ugh. Oh, and really, Fraction, one of the smartest men in the world wouldn't have realized BEFORE putting in Pepper's repulsor plate that two repulsor plates would repulse each other? Really?
Forget Jeph Loeb. At least he's trying to channel Michael Bay. Fraction has to be the worst high-profile Marvel writer since Austen and Zimmerman. Yeah, I know he did quality stuff on Iron Fist, but Uncanny and this title wipe out any goodwill he'd built up. Throw in more horrendous pencils from one of the worst high-profile artists Marvel loves, Salvador Larroca (who is not helped by awful colors), and Invincible Iron Man is easily the most mishandled title since giving Claremont full reign over the X-books during the release of the first X-Men film.
