For the very same reasons one can't seem to turn away from a train wreck, thus it is with me and Spongebob Squarepants. Not only do I own the first 100 episodes on DVD, but I made sure the first few years of my oldest son's life took place in or around Bikini Bottom. But whether you want to gouge your eyeballs out when you hear the theme song, or you enjoy the sheer absurdity of the cartoon, the Spongebob Comic is simply an extension of the cartoon, and thusly...perfection.
In Spongebob Comics #6 (which contains many short comic stories), Spongebob is recruited by Sandy to stop an evil version of herself by traversing into another dimenstion and hitting the "reverse" button. In typical Spongebon fashion, he bumbles his way through the adventure, but not before we get to see characters like Mermaid-Man and Barnacle-Boy working as fry cooks and cashiers along with otherdimensional superheroic versions of Spongebob of Spongebob and Patrick. Throw in a cover featuring many SPONGEBOB regulars like PA-TAR, SPONGETRON and more, this book..NAY...this title is worth your attention.
What make this book so awesome is that Stephen Hillenburg has managed to bring his cartoon creation back full circle and create a wonderful and fun adventure that your kids will get a kick out of, and you'll think is pretty cool too. As a collector, I don't know if I'd put this in the same category as a SONIC THE HEDGEHOG, but I've been buying two copies of every book and enjoyed reading every issue of the series so far. But this one really took the cake for awesomeness.
So grab a Krabby Patty, feed your pet snail and swing over to CCL and "surf" through the various issues of SPONGEBOB COMICS. The covers are very fun (and the upcoming #7 cover is an absolute must see).
