Issue #6 marks the departure of Stephen King as co-writer, leaving Scott Snyder as the sole writer of American Vampire. While Snyder and King's stories worked well together, I am looking forward to Snyder taking the reins on this series.
One thing that stands out for me is the quality of this book. Everything from the cover to the printing quality is top notch and vivid. Rafael Albuquerque's art just pops off of each page.
The story begins a new chapter as the story moves from Hollywood to Las Vegas. Noticeably absent is anti-hero Skinner Sweet, who finally makes an appearance on the final page as Mr. Smoke. The references to the newly built Hover Damn and the imagery of a very young Sin City is exciting. Readers are not only treated to great vampire story, they fed some really interesting history along the way.
I don't venture very far from the big comic companies, but this is one series that I don't intend on abandoning anytime soon. Skinner Sweet is my kind of vampire and you can't beat the setting. Throw in a great creative team and this book is bound to be a real winner for some time!
