Venom separates Carnage and Gwen Stacy by absorbing the symbiote and leaving Gwen Symbiote free. Kind of like my son with a bowl of lucky charms… eating only the marshmallows and leaving the cereal. OK, I get it.
So, Carnage has been absorbed by Venom, Gwen Stacy (or a copy of Gwen) is back, and Venom has been sucked into a container and is on his way to Latveria. The story was interesting, but way too much to swallow. Brian Michal Bendis was in a hurry on this one, as he has been busy with Secret Invasion and everything else he is doing, I guess he had to spit this one out quickly.
It was Stuart Immonen who saved the day here. His art was great, and the fight scenes with Carnage and Venom were cool. There were fewer dialogs in this issue compared to last issue, so Immonen really pulled this one through.
I am so glad this story is over, and we can move on. I am glad that Gwen is back, however I was OK without her. But, let’s see what is in store for the Ultimate Spider-Man gang, now that Gwen is in the mix again. I like Bendis’ writing, but he needs to spend a bit more time crafting these stories if he is going to continue to get my $2.99 for more of these.
