Daredevil:Yellow - Loeb & Sale

I just got around to reading this six issue mini series by Loeb and Sale, the infamous creative duo! I had been wanting to read it for a while and had got myself quite excited when I finally came around to reading it.

I have to admit, my excitement wasnt met with 'exciting' results, I found this mini series to be fairly bog-standard. It was just another writers take on the origins and early life of Matt Murdock & his alter-ego Daredevil, there was nothing unique about it too set itself apart from the other tales of Daredevil's origins in New York City.

The story throughout the whole mini series was re-telling the whole origins and early adventures of Daredevil in the form of Matt writing to this women who he loved called Karen, after she apparently disappeared. This meant that we spent the whole 6 issues looking back on Matt's early life following bits of the letter which Matt was writing in the present day as narration, which wasnt a bad idea on the whole, but it seemed a little anti-climatic and boring by the end of the whole 6 issues.

The writing was good, but no better than anything ive ever read about this character before. In fact, Ive seen better writing on Daredevil and was a little disappointed by this. Jeff Loeb did an okay job writing this, he did his usual comical input with witty banter dialogue making a mildly entertaining story, he added some cool cameos which only some of them made sense. It writing wasnt bad, it was just very standard and nothing I havnt read before.

The artwork was great, really great, I am a big fan of Tim Sale's artistic style, and it seemed like it had been coloured with water-colours here by the colourist which made it look really extra nice!

All in all, this wasnt a bad read, it just wasnt different to anything I felt Ive read before. It didnt have much more to offer aside from what we all already know.
