A very talented team produced this book. From Bendis on words, Tan drawing the lines, to Aleski Briclot with the stunning painted cover, this book is stacked with talent.
That said, I was very surprised that Marvel tackled the one of its major Secret War questions so quickly in this book. Everyone wanted to know if the Captain America and Spider-man that came out of the Skrull ship in the Savage Land were the real deal. The answer is revealed in this book! Had someone asked me in advance I would have insisted that Marvel would drag this waiting game on for a while (as seems to be their past practice.)
The Cap reveal doesn't alter much but the Spider-man reveal should change everything! At first I thought it might be the Spider-man that came from with the New Avengers to the Savage Land. But then I saw the old-school webbing under his arms and realized that this is the guy who walked out of the ship. If this truly means he is the real Spider-man, this is huge!
There were some good action scenes throughout and the insight into the Skrull invasion was helpful. Dare I say though, the Secret Invasion books are all starting to seem a little formulaic. I'd like to see the teams take this storyline out of the Savage Land and back to NYC.
All in all a good read though. And I do really hope the Spidey reveal changes everything!
